HORSE & HANDLER TURNOUT
Entries must be turned out in a respectable and professional manner.
This includes:
-
Appropriate braids (manes, forelocks, tails if desired). Fake tails are permitted.
-
Properly fitting hunter tack.
-
No flash, figure eight, or drop nosebands.
-
Plain leather browband and noseband.
-
Only the use of loose ring, egg butt, D-ring, or full cheek bits are permitted.
-
Handlers under the age of 18 MUST wear a helmet when in the show ring.
-
Handlers must wear clothing that allows for safe jogging while in the show ring.
-
Closed toe shoes are mandatory for handlers.
-
A properly fitted in-hand leather lead, with or without a chain, such as a newmarket or “V”shank type may be substituted for reins. A properly fitted chain should be short enough to prevent the horse from getting it in its mouth and should never be placed over the nose or tightly under the chin.
